Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This occasion provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
